About Us

About St. Mark’s

St. Mark the Evangelist is a traditional Anglican parish committed to serving the people of Ellis County and bringing them the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our vision is to be a place to belong, share faith, believe, and provide help as we become what God intends His people to be. We seek to serve individuals and families and emphasize discipleship, catechesis, and ordering of our spiritual lives according to the Anglican Three-Fold pattern of daily prayer, personal devotion, and celebrating Holy Communion on the Lord’s Day.

Saint Mark’s is rooted in an earlier parish of The Orthodox Anglican Church (OAC), Saint Athanasius Anglican Church, started in 2004. We were revitalized as a mission as part of the REC 100 initiative of the Reformed Episcopal Church. As a new mission, we celebrated our first service on June 24, 2020. We have been growing in the Faith and Love of our LORD JESUS Christ ever since.

David W. Norton

The Rev’d David W. Norton

Vicar of St. Mark’s

Father David was raised in Houston, Texas, and a love for liturgy, ecumenism, and the "Faith once delivered" (Jude 3) was instilled in him at an early age as a student of St. Thomas in Meyerland.

Fr. David's episcopal roots at St. Thomas drove him to skeptical questions, such as - "Where is the historic Church of the 1st-century?" - "What came of the Apostolic succession?" - "What does One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic mean?" - "Where do I, with my gifts, fit into the ancient, present, and visible Church that St. Paul called 'the pillar and ground of truth?'" (1 Tim 3:15).  If questions such as these are of interest to you too, perhaps you should consider St. Mark the Evangelist Church. Our goal is to 'walk' in the Faith of the historic Christian Church without alteration or adaptation - Belong, Believe, and Become like us, in the Anglican Way.

The Rev’d Jerry Young

Assisting Priest

Fr. Jerry Young has been active in Christian service since his teenage years at his church in Akron, Ohio. His preparation for vocational ministry continued at the University of Akron and then at Bob Jones University, where he studied in the School of Religion. There he met his wife, Donna, of over 50 years. Fr. Young has served in churches in Ohio, South Carolina, Michigan, Florida, Louisiana, and Texas. He was confirmed as an Anglican in 2004, and was ordained into the diaconate in 2010, and to the priesthood in 2018. He holds a Masters of Divinity from Laud Hall Seminary. For many years, he served as curate and assisting priest for the St. Athanasius Anglican Church in Waxahachie.

Fr. Young finds his fulfillment by serving in the local community, and by using his spiritual gift of organization and administration to enhance the growth and effectiveness of Christian ministries. He most recently has been actively involved in outreach to the homeless community, and a volunteer with the pro-life pregnancy center in Waxahachie. Fr. Young and Donna have one son, Ethan. They have lived in Waxahachie, Texas since 1990.
